Canadian Prime Minister seeking “justice” for the
passengers on board a Ukrainian passenger plane; said downed by Iran
After the killing of senior Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani
in a drone strike in Baghdad on January 3, Iran stroke missiles as a response
to two of the US airbases in Iraq. Shortly after Iran had launched missiles to
the US airbases in Iraq, the plane in route to the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, was
shot down near Tehran last Wednesday.
Following the unfortunate and the tragic happening of the Ukrainian passenger plane crash, Canadian PM
Justin Trudeau spoke in Edmonton, Alberta at a vigil for 57 Canadians killed in
the disaster along with many Ukrainians, UK citizens, Afghans’ and Swedish.
More than 2300 people gathered in a university gym on Sunday to pay respects to
the lost friends, family, classmates, colleagues- whose deaths left a deep hole
in many lives. Prime Minister told to the crowd, “your entire country
stands with you”. Mr. Trudeau promised to pursue justice to the lost lives and
answers from Iran. Mr. Trudeau also said, “This tragedy should have never
occurred, and I want to assure you that you have my full support during this
extraordinarily difficult time… you give us purpose to pursue justice and
accountability for you”.
US President Donald Trump
repeated warnings to Iran to not hold target to anti-government protesters,
posting a note on Twitter.
Hence, both Ukrainian president Volodomyr Zelensky and
Justin Trudeau have demanded responsibility from Iran. Mr.Trudeau said on
Saturday there must be a full investigation. Iran has invited Canada, Ukraine
and Boeing to take part in an investigation into the disaster.
